The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the detailed recruitment notification and examination schedule for the prestigious Combined Graduate Level Examination 2026 (SSC CGL 2026). SSC CGL is one of the most widely anticipated and competitive recruitment drives conducted across India, serving as the gateway to fill lucrative Group 'B' Gazetted, Group 'B' NonGazetted, and Group 'C' posts across various Union Ministries, Departments, Statutory Bodies, Tribunals, and Constitutional Offices of the Government of India.

Recruitment Scope & Cadre Details

Through this nationwide competitive drive, SSC aims to recruit qualified candidates for approximately 12,256 vacancies across premier central services including the Central Secretariat Service (CSS), Intelligence Bureau (IB), Ministry of Railways, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Directorate of Enforcement (ED), and Offices under the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG).

7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Pay Scale & Remuneration

Selected candidates are inducted across multiple distinct pay bands under the 7th CPC Matrix depending on their assigned group and post:

• Pay Level 8 (₹47,600 to ₹1,51,100): Assistant Audit Officer and Assistant Accounts Officer.
• Pay Level 7 (₹44,900 to ₹1,42,400): Assistant Section Officer (CSS, MEA, IB, Railways, AFHQ), Inspector of Income Tax, Central Excise Inspector, Preventive Officer, Examiner, Assistant Enforcement Officer (ED), and SubInspector (CBI).
• Pay Level 6 (₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400): Executive Assistant, Research Assistant, Divisional Accountant, Sub Inspector (NIA), Statistical Investigator Gr. II, and Junior Statistical Officer (JSO).
• Pay Level 5 (₹29,200 to ₹92,300): Auditor and Accountant / Junior Accountant posts across CAG, CGA, and other central departments.
• Pay Level 4 (₹25,500 to ₹81,100): Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, Senior Secretariat Assistant/UDC, Senior Administrative Assistant, and Tax Assistant (CBDT/CBIC).

In addition to basic pay, employees receive Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA calculated by city classification X, Y, Z), Transport Allowance (TA), Children Education Allowance (CEA), leave travel concession (LTC), Contributory Pension Scheme (NPS), and Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) facilities.
